Blissful peace and quiet... Simon is still with Linda, we're picking him up tomorrow. He was supposed to be back at school tomorrow, but since we'll be taking him out on Tues for the Kilroy recording, I've not made a fuss over it - it's Linda being thick as usual.

I forgot to talk about Kilroy before. Well, one of the researchers phoned me on about Thurs last week, as they have rescheduled the recording on rape recovery that they were going to go a little while ago. They will be focussing more on rape than abuse which means I have to call the evil welsh tosser to mind :-p But considering Kilroy goes out in the morning, I would think (and hope) they'll be talking more about the effects and healing process than individual cases. We're recording on Tuesday and I think we've got to be there for 11-ish, so it'll be a fairly early start. Actually it'll have to be - we'll need to get to town on the bus, I'm not paying fucking £10 for parking at the station.

So it's been a nice lazy weekend really, shopping, library, chinese chicken stir-fries... and plenty of work on my Poser scene and in 3DS Max. Posted a portrait of Marrakesh on Renderosity, but didn't really get the hair right, I need to work on that. Actually I did work quite a bit on the brow hairline - the first time I've ventured to do so in Photoshop - but the remainder of the head needs work and I don't know if my skills are up to it, especially as I was going for realism. :-S Might need to try and rearrange the hair within Poser itself.

Anyway, off to do a bit more work before I conk out for the night :)

Quick update while I'm waiting to phone my mum back, as she was having her tea when I phoned just now.

The lady from Kilroy phoned and went through some of the questions and topics they will be looking at on Tuesday. I feel more confident now that this will be a very positive thing and very empowering for other survivors. That might sound a bit odd, or big-headed, but it was something I really could have done with when I was in healing - someone I could point to who could say "I survived and healed, I am happy, I have a good emotional and sexual relationship, you can too."

Anyway, I had to work yesterday morning, as part of the shift and holiday rearrangement to enable us to go on Tuesday, which was a bit of a drag, but at least I was home by 1.45pm and had even remembered to take my library books in with me so I could go on the way home. Found a new Goosebumps book for Simon, the sequel to one we had last month, so he was well happy with that.

Today I went shopping with Simon to Morrisons. Had a minor mishap in the soft drinks aisle. I asked Simon to pick up 3 bottles of lemonade and put them in the trolley. Of course he tried to pick up two at once, and was about to drop them in the main basket on top of the bread and other squishable things. I said, "No, in the front!" so he tried to swivel round, slipped, fell to the floor, and started a domino effect on a row of bottles of Schweppes standing in front of the shelves. CRASH! glug glug glug as bottles go flying across the aisle every which way! Still, we got them all picked up without too many problems, although I was mortified to note a really good-looking bloke who I'd noticed by the fruit and veg casting a rather quizzical look in our direction *blush*

Anyway, got the shopping home and unpacked without any further mishaps, had tea, went outside and played a bit of football with Simon, spoke to the lady from Kilroy, and that was my weekend :-)

Got home from work on Thursday to hear Pat saying to someone on the phone, "Oh, she's just come in the door now, if you can phone back in a bit..." - always an ominous thing to hear when you've just returned from a day of drudgery, you're still wearing your stupid security pass and you've got a bag full of fish and chips to eat.

It was a producer from the Kilroy programme, wasn't it? They're recording a show on rape recovery next week and they'd like me and Pat to go. Catch is, it's next Tuesday...

12 hours later, with much frantic rearranging of holidays and shifts, I was able to confirm we could both attend. The lady (Michelle) will be phoning us tomorrow to discuss further details.

I'm not sure how I feel about this... yes, publicity is a great thing and public debate even more so, it could be empowering for both of us and encouraging for other survivors to see two people who've put their lives back together after abuse. On the other hand, Kilroy is a smug git and appearing on daytime telly is a bit... sad.
