Can it ever be right for the state to kill an individual?... I just have a very wrong feeling about all this.
I can't pretend to have knowledge or understanding of all the very complex issues in the middle east. I do know Saddam was an evil dictator responsible for thousands (if not millions) of deaths and a regime of torture and fear.
But.
Killed in "battle" - fine, them's the breaks.
Killed while resisting arrest or whatever - you know, shit happens.
But.
Execution.
No, it sticks in my craw. It doesn't sit well with me. All that they've done, probably, is created a martyr. And doing it on Eid is just... wrong.
Not good, not good.
