So I went out with Rhys, Ellen, Liz and Owen on Friday night for some foooood and boooze. Ate at an Italian place in Hillsborough then groaned our way back up the hill to Rhys and Ellen's place, where we played with their Wii. Which sounds very naughty when you say it out loud, hur hur hur.

Didn't get too rat-arsed on the grounds of sharing a cab with Liz and Owen, and Liz had to be up at 7am to feed her mum's cats. So on Saturday I wasn't hungover, but my foot was killing me on account of having rubbed a really nasty blister walking down and then back up Stannington Road.

I was quite tired though, and ended up having an early night on Saturday. Which perhaps explains my mistake.

On Sunday morning I was awake quite early (8am) and got up to feed the cats, sat down at my PC with a cuppa and thought, "Bloody hell, my head is KILLING me!"

I couldn't work out why it was hurting so much. I didn't have any migraine symptoms, it was "just" a headache, but god, it felt awful! I tried resting my eyes from the PC, turning the lights on, turning the lights off, taking paracetamol, drinking lots of water - nothing helped. 

At the same time, I felt really scratchy and crappy. I decided since I was probably coming down with the lurgey, I wouldn't go grocery shopping, I'd just stay in all day and catch up with my reading. (I was also supposed to be listing some more comics, but the idea of bending down to keep putting them on the scanner, and the dazzling bright colours, was just too much.)

I felt a little better towards early evening, but at 9pm last night I thought I'd hit the hay (since I was starting work at 6am the following day, i.e. today) and went to take my tablets.

After popping out what I thought was my usual 50mg (2x25mg) of amytriptylline, along with my other regular pills and nostrums, I was just about to tip them down my gullet when I thought, "Hang on - these are the wrong colour. WTF?"

Turns out I had popped out two codeine phosphate, to the tune of 60mg, which are in an identically designed pack to my amytriptylline (well, identical if you don't read the label!) And I had clearly done the same thing the night before, without even noticing the colour, since the pack, which I now had been full, had two 30mg tablets missing.

I don't even take codeine any more - I haven't had any for at least 2 months, and I was only taking 30mg a day even when I was on it full time! 

So this explains the headache, doziness, scratchy feeling, etc, which stayed with me all of Sunday, and also explained why my back pain was worse (I'd put this down to the lurgey as well.)

Lucky I've cut down to 50mg of amy... If I'd taken 3x30mg of codeine I think I'd have put myself in hospital. I've got no tolerance to it since I stopped taking it... and I decided to quit it because I was concerned about long-term use and the possibility of addiction.

Doh!
